MusicalFare Theatre hosted its fourth bi-annual “Standing Ovation” for its major donors to the theatre June 25.
MusicalFare Theatre Artistic/Executive Director, Randall Kramer, gave an insider’s view of the upcoming 2007/2008 subscription season. Afterward, guests were treated to a performance of several numbers from the upcoming production of Sisters of Swing: The Andrew Sisters Musical.
Kramer also presented the fourth bi-annual “Bud Coleman Award” to Janice P. Barrett for her extraordinary support of MusicalFare Theatre.
Barrett was the first board president of MusicalFare. She and her husband, Barry, have been significant financial supporters of MusicalFare and were active in both the theatre’s Capital and Songs for Tomorrow campaigns. Barrett has also been active as a consultant to MusicalFare for applications to area foundations and it is estimated that in the last ten years over $300,000 has been generated for MusicalFare through these efforts.
The award is named for the late Charles “Bud” Coleman, who was a professional fundraiser, and former Board Member of MusicalFare Theatre, who was instrumental in successful fundraising campaigns for St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church and the WNY Food Bank. He was also a key advisor in MusicalFare’s decision to expand and renovate its theatre. Coleman had worked for Robert J. Miller and Associates and Kearns and Associates.
